Abstract :
Web-based learning (WbL) has created a dynamic environment for delivering course materials and promoting communication. Based on the situated cognition theory and social interaction learning theory, this study aimed to investigate learners\´ satisfaction toward cross-platform course management system (CMS) where students could interact and socialized with other students, teachers, and experts. Moreover, the suggestion/opinion about the system would be elicited by interviewing some of the participants. The subjects were 70 elementary English teacher-candidates who participated in continuing education program at Taipei County in Northern Taiwan. "Moodle" were used as CMS in this study. The results revealed that the quality of the WbL system on organization and technique would influence learners\´ satisfaction toward learning. Moreover, English teachers-candidates were satisfied with the online learning center which provided the opportunities for them to gain the teaching ideas/experience through communicating and negotiating with others. The implication of the study showed that Web-based program could create an effective environment where learners could construct their knowledge through situated learning.
