Abstract
Expert systems have been successfully introduced into network management for some years. But they have showed some limits in coping with the evolution of network configurations and poor expertise which is characteristic of this domain. We propose, in this paper, an intelligent and integrated fault management system, by studying different artificial intelligence techniques such as model-based expert systems, neural networks, case-based reasoning, which could be used in special tasks in network fault management. Hybrid architectures are also studied to integrate this different techniques into a global management system
