Abstract :
The CDMA access channel performance is studied in this paper. A new access channel traffic model, modified from the ALOHA model, is proposed which gives a closer approximation to the actual CDMA access channel. This model is compared with the traditional slotted ALOHA and the Erlang loss model, and validated with the simulation. The effects of the parameter settings, such as backoff delay and number of power increment steps, on channel capacity and channel traffic load as well as collision and blocking probabilities are also addressed based on the simulation
