Abstract
Today, interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) is the most important machine for medium and small capacity adjustable-speed drives. It is very important to teach its technology to the university students and the engineers in this field. Six important proposals are suggested. They are the proposals about the definitions concerning the d-axis of dq coordinates and the variable “pole interval angle” for representing the torque equation, symbols for constructing the machine system, newly developed synchronous machine chart (SM-chart) for analyzing the operation and elaborating the control scheme of an IPMSM, and the naming concerning “field weakening”.
