Abstract
Summary form only given. We show the first demonstration in which a periodically poled crystal with a cylindrical shape can lead to a continuous widely tunable optical parametric oscillator (OPO), i.e. 520 nm in KTiOPO/sub 4/ (KTP). Considering the efficient quasi phase matched OPOs already reported, and the good M/sup 2/ factor obtained with cylindrical crystals in phase-matched OPOs; we think that the cylindrical periodically poled crystal is a very promising solution for the realization of widely and continuously tunable OPOs with a mJ energy level and a good beam quality.
