Abstract :
The capacity of a CDMA system supporting multimedia services with linear multiuser detectors (MUD) is analyzed. By adopting the generalized effective user data model for multi-rate CDMA and extending the capacity analysis for CDMA systems supporting single class of services with linear MUDs in earlier works, we investigate the capacity of a multimedia CDMA system in a cellular environment. The methodology of resource assignment or power allocation is also developed, and is demonstrated to control the multi-dimensional capacity distribution and to affect the efficiency of the multimedia systems
