Abstract :
Estimating such multipath parameters as path angles and times of arrival (AOA and TOA) using subspace-based superresolution algorithms has been receiving major interest in mobile propagation research. The main limitation of these algorithms is that they perform poorly in the presence of highly correlated and coherent signals. Popular smoothing preprocessing techniques enable us to remove the signal coherence and to improve the performance of the superresolutionn method in coherent environments. Although the number of subarrays (called the smoothing factor) is a free parameter in smoothing preprocessing, a useful strategy to determine it has not been yet established. In this paper, we investigate thoroughly the smoothing factor and also proposed a new scheme to determine and evaluate it
