Abstract
This paper studies the method of saving cost in project management by making use of floats. Firstly, it puts forward the critical path theorem and the safety float phenomenon, reveals the conditions that a new critical path appears and the properties of safety float in the process of its use. It then proposes a method that can maximize cost saving without new critical path or new critical activity appearing in project management on the basis of the minimum cut algorithm, and the method is proved to be correct. The paper also gives an example of its application. The method is helpful for project managers to enhance the efficiency of the use of floats.
