Abstract :
This paper discusses general issues concerning ultrawideband (UWB) arrays and specifically analyzes time-delay scanning linear arrays of thin dipoles that are excited by a single-cycle sine, when the effects of mutual coupling are neglected. In particular, when the array consists of eleven equally spaced and equally weighted dipoles, the time-domain radiated far field for broadside scan and the energy-density pattern for several scan angles are determined as a function of the observation angle. Also, the beamwidth is defined in terms of the energy-density pattern and is calculated versus different scan angles for selected inter-element spacings
