  • Abstract
The authors introduce a generic model for performing the analysis required to verify the safe shutdown capability of a nuclear power plant in the event of a fire as required by 10CFR50 Appendix R Section III G. They address the three primary issues associated with Appendix R Section III G and Generic Letter 86-10: (1) safe shutdown capability analysis, (2) associated circuit analysis, and (3) multiple high-impedance fault analysis. It is noted that, since the generic model basically uses existing plant controlled documents, it will provide substantial savings in cost in connection with performing, maintaining, and updating the analysis.<>
