Title :
Human factors assessment of digital monitoring systems for nuclear power plants control room

Abstract :
A human factor analysis is developed for a digital (digital-bar graph) display for nuclear power plant control rooms. The new instrumentation would replace existing conventional analog monitoring systems. The analysis on a dual digital-bar graph unit addressed and resolved certain human engineering deficiencies (HEDs) discussed here. The success that control room operators will have by monitoring this instrumentation is related to how well designers and human factors specialist enhance this instrumentation, so that it presents information in an efficient manner and with no information overload to operators.<>
