Rapid PN acquisition algorithm using matched filter and data sorting method in DS/CDMA system

In this paper, we present a method of PN code acquisition of DS/CDMA system based on a structure of matched filter. The proposed scheme has a structure that utilizes the searching window which has the same size as the tap length of the matched filter. This system performs parallel correlation in each chip interval to improve the mean acquisition time (MAT). To reduce hardware complexity, it sorts out several maximum data instead of using all accumulated data and utilizes indexing for efficient data handling. The performance of the proposed system is analyzed in a frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel with frequency offset. Especially, we present results for the optimal number of data in using the sorting method, the number of coherent accumulations and the number of noncoherent integrations. We confirm that the performance of the proposed system is much better than other searching techniques from numerical analysis
