Abstract :
A description is given of the use of a high-order controller for output-feedback pole assignment to improve the noise performance and stability margin. It is shown that even if the order be increased only by one a significant improvement (compared with the minimal order controller) can be achieved with only modest computational effort. It is then shown that a significant improvement can also be obtained if the optimisation be performed on a simpler criterion
