An Empirical Research on Selecting Location of Chain Convenience Store

Abstract :
While summarizing past successful experience, foreign chain-store enterprises consider location as the primary element in operation. In the process of selecting location of a chain convenience store, the proprietor must analyze lots of factors to optimize his final decision. This article focuses on how to analyze the importance of various factors, then, do a survey coordinated with factors´ relative importance. Based on the above, we can build a model using analytic hierarchy process about various qualitative factors involved in selecting location. Through the model, all the factors´ relative weights were obtained, compared with the goal to get an optimal site. In the article, with the detailed investigation, we will offer a representative example. This process quantitates manager subjective judgments, will offer managers a scientific method of selecting location when chain convenience store enterprises expand their scale.
