Abstract :
In this paper, a simple speed control system for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) based on the newly reported hexagram inverter is presented. The PMSM with six terminals is controlled by the rotor flux oriented vector control to achieve the adjustable speed drive. The hexagram inverter topology is based on combining six standard three-phase modules to achieve low component voltage stress and automatic power sharing suitable for high power motor applications. The whole system can be implemented by using one PWM controller; as a result, there is no need to use several DSPs for the whole system. Finally, analysis, implementation and experimental results are illustrated to verify the attractive features.
