Abstract
The goal of this paper is to propose a fault tolerant system for a single-phase to three-phase ac drive system. Open circuit and short circuit failures are considered in this work as non-programmed maintenance troubles occurring in the converter power devices, and it can be compensated by proposed strategy. The fault compensation is achieved by reconfiguring the power converter topology with the help of isolation and connection devices. These devices are used to redefine the post-fault ac drive system topology. The post-fault converter topology associated to the control strategy allows to keep the ac drive system operating with dc-link voltage equal or close to that of the pre-fault system. Experimental results demonstrate the validity of the proposed system.
