Abstract :
Transfer functions are useful parameters for UWB antenna characterization. In this paper, the transmitting antenna transfer function, receiving antenna transfer function, and antenna system transfer function are characterized by a network approach. The transfer functions are expressed by ABCD and S parameters when the antenna system is considered as a two-port network. To validate the proposed method, an antipodal Vivaldi antenna is investigated and discussed. The measured results are validated by XFDTD simulation.
