Abstract
Service industry is facing increasingly more pressure with the rise of status of service in social economy. In order to make service industry unlike manufacturing industry, which is vulnerable in face of foreign competition, service industry has to rely on information technology innovations and high-tech management to continuously improve the quality of service products and productivity. Starting with the analysis of information technology´s impact on service industry, service industry´s investment in information technology and the reasons for depending on it, this paper proposes the concept that information technology in the management of service has the functions of innovativeness, value and competitiveness, and carries out deep and microscopic analysis in these three aspects. Hopefully, this concept can make a little contribution to the consecutive enhancement of service management level in service industry.
