Abstract :
The success of GSM as a mobile telephony system has enabled the development of various advanced wireless applications. Originally designed for covering wide areas with relatively low users density, the GSM infrastructure has evolved to cope with the increasing number of subscribers. Smaller and smaller cells have been designed to answer to the new capacity needs. Furthermore, it is now possible to design very small cells (picocell) and to offer dedicated coverage. Consequently, it is possible to imagine GSM as a candidate solution for wireless corporate coverage. In such an environment, there is a high requirement for deployment flexibility. This can be achieved by using some GSM air-interface characteristics (particularly, the properties of the GSM hopping sequences) along with an original GSM coverage. The efficiency of the subsequent corporate network self-organization is further analyzed as a function of the user traffic inside the coverage area
