Abstract
A novel analytical three-dimensional cone beam reconstruction algorithm is presented for truncated spherical detection geometry. The algorithm is generalized for other geometries, such as a truncated cylinder. This approach involves weighted backprojection of cone beam projection data to form a raw 3-D backprojection image, and subsequent 3-D space-invariant filtering. The algorithm is analytically exact and computationally efficient. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated using computer simulation studies, and results are found to be accurate.<>
