Abstract :
This paper presents an analysis of protection of geographical indications in China. As a member of WTO, China should meet the requirements of the agreement on trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights (TRIPs). An introduction to TRIPs is made to show the necessity of protection of geographical indications. It is pointed out that although the related protection system has already been established in China, some problems still exist. On the basis of the detailed analysis, suggestions are given as follows: duty scopes of the related government bureaus should be distinguished; legal liabilities should be strictly established; and enthusiasms should be stimulated to struggle against infringements.
