Abstract :
An image formation model for B-mode linear-scan imaging systems using a generally noncircular Gaussian transducer is presented. Using this model, computationally efficient expressions for the point response of the system are derived. As an application of the model, a resolution enhancement scheme, based on the piecewise shift-invariant Wiener filtering technique is proposed. Simulations indicate significant resolution improvement in both axial and lateral directions.<>
