Abstract :
In this paper, induction motor made of iron powder core is presented. Almost all HEV and EV use rare earth permanent magnet motor as a traction motor. Nowadays, resource crisis of rare earth materials is coming. This paper proposes novel induction motor made of Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC). The comparison of the loss characteristics of SMC induction motor and conventional laminated steel induction motor is shown. As a result, iron loss of SMS induction motor is low over 104Hz of driving frequency. Actual iron loss of the assembled core is measured by B-H analyzer. The result show that the use of SMC as the core of the induction motor has a great possibility to realize new induction motor.
