Abstract :
This paper describes a new implantable microstimulator dedicated to peripheral-neural stimulation applications. This device is intended to restore normal bladder functions of paralyzed patients. Each one of two parts forming the microstimulator is implemented in a single Actel FPGA. The implantable circuitry is externally controlled and powered by an encoded radio-frequency carrier. Eight user defined parameters allow the generation of a wide range of stimulation patterns. Thus, the implantable system is adaptable to the patient´s need and to future developments of stimulation algorithms. The external controller has been developed to transmit through a 20 MHz AM Manchester coded data
