Abstract :
A MATLAB toolbox has been developed that analyzes digital filter structures. After describing the digital filter structure in a SPICE-like format, the programs of this toolbox can map a digital filter structure into a state-space description, convert a state-space description to a z-domain transfer function, compute the maximum signal magnitude when input is bounded by unity, compute noise power at the filter´s output due to round-off errors, round all multiplier coefficients to B bits relative to the largest nontrivial multiplier, generate a table of magnitude and phase sensitivities as a function of the frequency, and estimate the minimum wordlength required to meet filter specifications
