Abstract :
Manual operations in steady state and unusual operations of plants are mostly conducted by operators, and the quality of these operations suffers from fluctuation due to the variance in those operators´ skill, which is a bottleneck to the increase in the operational efficiency. The article presents Exapilot Operational Efficiency Increase Support Package, developed by Yokogawa Electric Corporation. Running on DOS/V Windows NT4.0, it minimizes the number of DCS operations, saves direct and indirect resources, acquires skilled operators´ expertise and improves safety. This tool increases the operational efficiency by semiautomating and homogenizing those operations through the systematization of skilled operators´ expertise. The remarkable feature of Exapilot is the operational efficiency increase cycle. Also in this package, a user application program is provided in a flowchart format that can be used for online-SOP (standard operational procedures)
