Abstract
This paper describes a technique of using the Rabiner and Sambur (1995) algorithm for detecting silence from speech, and a technique which uses a pattern recognition approach for classifying speech into voiced and unvoiced speech. The pattern recognition approach provides a several effective methods of combining the contributions of speech features into a single classifier providing reliable separation between classes
