Abstract :
This paper presents fast-synchronized noncoherent limiter discriminator detection of standardized FQPSK (Feher quadrature phase-shift-keying) and filtered OQPSK (offset quadrature phase-shift-keying) suitable for nonlinearly amplified (NLA) second and third generation wireless communication systems with fast fading, cochannel interference, or strong phase noise. Based on the phase characteristics of FQPSK and OQPSK, noncoherent limiter-discriminator detection is presented. Then we apply maximum-likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) with lookup tables to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance.
