Abstract :
This paper proposes a new concept of customised levels of network availability, where the customer can request different grades of service protection at a related cost premium. The concept design shows consideration for both the different telecommunication services and the physical topologies of public telecommunication transport highway networks. This new concept integrates the notions of traffic segregation, path diversity and hierarchical restoration. It is showed that network resources are saved and that the network operator may this way provide its customers with services at the most appropriate cost
