Abstract
In this paper the second order statistics of the signal to interference ratio (SIR) are analyzed for a cellular mobile network in the presence of log-normal shadowing and co-channel interferers. The autocovariance function of the SIR is derived in closed form, by extending the Wilkinson´s method that has been previously used only for the derivation of the first and the second moments of the sum of log-normal random variables. Outage occurrence rate and duration are taken as performance measures and the relevant system parameters are varied in order to analyze their effects on system performance,
