Abstract
We show that due to the particular propagation conditions in urban microcellular environments it is possible to use channels with violation to the frequency reuse pattern for handoff prioritization with an insignificant degradation on the quality of service. This is possible because we restrict the use of channels with violation to the reuse pattern in the non-line-of-sight condition. Also, we study the performance of the violation to the reuse pattern combined with the channel reservation strategy for handoff prioritization. The proposed handoff prioritized strategy yields 3% capacity increase relative to the schemes that do not use channels with violation to the reuse pattern
