Abstract
A DSP based power analyzing and control system is presented in this paper. Using correlation techniques, a system´s power can be decomposed into three components active, reactive, and distorted power. Each decomposed component is displayed in a 3-D current coordinate system. As a result, a new 3-D power factor is introduced as an alternative to the standard definition of the power factor. The developed system operates as a harmonics compensator as well. Harmonics compensation and analysis of the system´s power can be accomplished simultaneously. For the real time control of the APF (active power filter), a DSP TMS320C31 is used. The experimental results support the conclusion that the developed system is highly accurate in analyzing system power, and has good performance in control of the APF
