Abstract :
Modern shipboard power systems of surface vessels require accurate and efficient load flow solutions to keep its grid voltage static stable. A novel approach to Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm for solving load flow calculation problem of integrated shipboard power systems is presented in this paper. The proposed new technique evolves a unique version of PSO by converting forward-backward sweep method into an iterative random searching in continuous solution domain. Case studies on a benchmark test system of a ship´s distribution network demonstrate the introduced methodology succeeds in being the effective one with good convergence on integrated shipboard power system with low X/R ratios.
