Abstract
The performance of a uniform linear array (ULA) is evaluated by computer simulations in a multipath fading channel where the power azimuth spread (PAS) is Laplace distributed. An analytical expression for the correlation between elements of the ULA is derived under the fading multipath channel, and Laplace-distributed PAS assumptions. Based on this model, a study of the ULA topology in a sectorised microcell environment is carried out in order to determine an optimal number of elements, distance between elements, and number of sectors in the microcell. An extension to 2D ULA is presented
