  • Abstract
Taking into account scheduling-related constraints is becoming important in today´s manufacturing environment, both for the design of products and manufacturing systems. We present a new expert system prototype, called SMCT, that aids designers in evaluating the constraints and requirements of their scheduling problem, and that helps them in selecting an efficient scheduling method (SM) for their production line, We present the main fuzzy proposition inference approach, which is used to represent and infer knowledge. We then present an industrial automated assembly case study, before concluding with future developments
