Abstract :
This study observed the time course of and the relationship between surface myoelectric signal (SMES) parameters related to fatigue. Based on experimental data it is concluded that the electrical manifestation of muscle fatigue during electrical stimulation provides reliable data about muscle parameters and architecture while the quality of information may be much better than that obtained during voluntary contractions. The technique can also be used for identifying the optimal location of stimulating electrodes and for the optimization of functional electrical stimulation systems using surface electrodes.<>
