Abstract :
This paper presents an alternative solution to the problem of equalization in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication channels. The idea is to re-cast this problem into a standard Hinfin synthesis problem, and to express the solution as a convex semi-definite optimization program, which can be efficiently resolved by means of the tool of linear matrix inequalities (LMI). When compared to the classical methods of channel equalization, the proposed method provides equalizers that are not only easy to implement, but also more robust with respect to model uncertainties in the channel, perturbing signals and lack of statistical knowledge in the exogenous signals.
