Abstract :
This paper describes the evolution of the electricity industry regulatory reform in Japan including scope of retail competition, power market development and maintenance of stable, secure supply. The paper also address and discuss new issues related to the further regulatory reform and reliable operations of power markets and systems including demand participation in the competitive market.
