Abstract
A method for obtaining a reduced-order model of a linear system is developed. A transfer function approach is extended by using a time-domain state space approach. The procedure allows the performance of other well-known reduction methods to be improved by achieving better L/sup 2/ norms in order to improve the reduced model in a particular frequency range. Moreover, the conditions to compute a reduced model when the plants are subjected to canonical inputs are shown.<>
