  • Abstract
    Mobile IP networks suffer high binding update traffic from high rates of handoffs and long packet delivery delay from the large distance to the home network. In this paper, we introduce a MIPv6-based handover optimized solution for inter-domain handover management to reduce the binding update and packet delivery delay and traffic. In contrast with the normal HMIP protocol, the method can largely reduce the handoff latency and packets loss. Then based on the balance of the wireless link efficiency and the packet loss ratio, how the agent advertisement period affects the handoff performance in our proposal is analyzed. Finally, we obtain the optimal agent advertisement period of our handover optimized solution.
