Abstract :
It is shown that the simplified sufficient conditions for the asymptotic Hurwitz stability of interval matrices derived by M. Mansour (1989) can be further simplified by considering the directions of the associated maximizing vectors. The number of extreme matrices to be checked is reduced from 2n(n-1)/2 to 2n-1. The same approach can also be used for Schur stability. Then, the number of extreme matrices to be checked is 22n-1
