Abstract :
A distributed communication gateway, which can be used in distribution system, is proposed in this paper, and a new mechanism used with network gateway to adapt to multilevel and multi-node integrative networks. Many types of GPS terminals in navigation system result in division in navigational resources and information. To solve this problem, communication gateways are employed in navigation system. In the paper we described the structure of gateway transmitted data between mobile GPS terminals and GIS clients and its mechanism. On the aspect of functions the gateway converts several isolated intelligent GPS terminal protocols to a combined one according to a uniform format. Referring to other existing protocols, we defined communication protocol used for communication between gateways and GIS clients. In addition we encrypted data converted for the purpose of security. The performance of gateway for distribution system is well, and several GPS terminal protocols are effectively integrated into the combined protocol. This application indicates the gateway has flexibility, expansibility, reliability and security. But discussing and integrating coordinating traffic monitoring system remains to be expanded.
