Abstract :
A new portable instrument has been designed for simultaneous monitoring of blood pressure (BP), cardiac output (CO) and the other cardiovascular hemodynamic parameters, based on the volume-compensation and electrical admittance method. The portable unit, carried by a subject, performs all of the BP and CO measurements, processes signals, and stores about 32000 beats of data-sets in a fully automated manner. A personal computer is used to reproduce and analyze the measurement data. Through the laboratory and field testings, the present system appears promising as a useful means to evaluate in detail, without restricting the subject, his cardiovascular hemodynamic responses to daily physical and stressful activities
