Abstract :
In this work the authors develop an anatomically consistent simulation model for the time domain analysis of lung mechanics in an artificially ventilated patient. The model implemented with a patient ventilator coupling allows the evaluation of different ventilator strategies on the time course of alveolar pressure and flows by also accounting for the effects of heterogeneity of airway obstruction
