Abstract
A vibrational approach to assessment of bone fracture healing is presented. Previous work in the authors´ and other laboratories is summarized. This work is extended by establishing a relationship between mechanical stiffness and the bone vibrational response. A composite beam model of a healing bone is developed. The measurement technique used is described, and experimental results are compared with theoretical analysis and numerical simulations. Finite-element-analysis results using a rabbit tibia model are presented.<>
