Abstract :
Old films suffer from several degradations due to bad storage conditions. In our work, we are interested in detecting a special type of degradation called blotches. The aim of this paper is to improve the performances of our blotch detector proposed in a previous work, by improving the results of the motion estimation and compensation step in the special case of sequences with varying illumination. We propose a robust motion estimation method based on the phase correlation information. The experiments show a high efficiency of the proposed technique with low complexity compared to some existing estimators.
