Abstract
A study of urban growth and population to increase in 1985-2007 measures the urban sprawl of Zhengzhou city with Concept Judgment Task and Sprawl Indices. With Concept JudgementTask, there isn´t urban sprawl in 1985-2001 and there is urban sprawl in 2001-2007; With Sprawl Indices, there is urban sprawl in 2001-2007; two measures come to the same thing. The driving forces of urban sprawl in Zhengzhou mostly include three forces: population, economy and policy, among which population is straighter force and economy and policy is important forces. The urban land is transformed by cultivation land, the land of country residential area and the industry and mine enterprise in the urban sprawl of Zhengzhou city, among them cultivation land is 53.94% of the total quantity of urban construction land growth, cultivation land and the land of country residential area is 86.09%.
