Abstract :
In epilepsy surgery, electrode grids are often used to measure electrocorticograms (ECoGs). In these electrode grids, the distance between contacts is usually 10 mm. This may not be adequate to sample neocortical electrical activity. In this study, ECoGs were simulated, assuming the location of the electrical sources in the brain generating epileptic spikes. It is concluded that for adequately measuring the electric field generated by cortical sources, the contact distance should be decreased to 5 mm
