  • Abstract
A new transimpedance amplifier (TIA), which divides the feedback resistor into shunt- and series-connection to the current source of the buffer, is proposed. The proposed TIA provides high linearity without sacrifice in gain and noise performances as the series-connected feedback resistor does not contribute to linearity degradation. The advantage of the proposed TIA is demonstrated by simulations based on a 0.18mum CMOS technology. The proposed TIA simulations show an eye diagram improvement of 300muA overload signal and 69.8dBOmega AC gain and 4.5pA/sqrt(Hz) input referred current noise at 1GHz 3dB-bandwidth for 1.25Gbps TIA. The dissipation of DC current is 4mA from 3.3V supply voltage
