Abstract :
The authors describe the preliminary work on a semi-active method for structural motion control in a structural system. By the appropriate control of a system stiffness, the energy in different modes can be steered into other modes. The analytical formulation is presented, and was supported by a simple simulation experiment. The proposed approach introduces minimal energy into the system and will thus never result in modal spillover
